Camilo developed his PhD at the Universities of Aveiro and Iceland exploring the implications of long distance migratory strategies and variation of wintering habitat use on individual fitness. He investigates these links on Icelandic Whimbrels (Numenius phaeopus islandicus), developing fieldwork in Iceland and West Africa and using several individual tracking techniques (colour-rings, stable isotopes and geolocators).
